Hello

My name is Steve Torres and I would like to share my story with all of you. I started drinking alcohol at the young age of 16 years old. I grew up with 4 older brothers in the city of Santa Barbara. Growing up in a beach community was very nice and fun; however alcohol was too easy to obtain and I began hiding out to drink with my friends. The drinking started out as cool and wasn’t a problem. When my drinking increased, the real problems began and at around 19 years old I got a DUI. I crashed my sister’s car and had to do jail time because of the severity of the accident. I got into bar fights from all my heavy drinking. As I grew older and my drinking increased, I began to black out on the weekends from the heavy drinking. I thought my drinking was not an issue since I did not get into any more trouble with law enforcement. I continued drinking for many years and I did not consider the effects it had on my family. I was selfish. I stopped drinking to repair my marriage. Alcohol was a priority to me until one day I woke up from a heavy night of drinking and did not remember driving home from a party. I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired; I got help from Alcohol Anonymous. I have been sober for 7 years, taking one day at a time.

Sincerely,
Steve Torres
