Hello,

My name is Rafael Lopez. I am a EDMS at the Contract Operations lincoln Heights District. I have been sober for the past 23 years and married for 21. I am blessed to have a 20 year old daughter in college and a 15 year old son in high school, both of whom I am grateful to be present in their lives. I know what it is like to have to hide my drinking and substance abuse because of the fear of being found out. It began as something manageable, but over time I lost control. That is what makes me an alcoholic, the inability to have just a drink or two and stop. For me, one is too many and a hundred is not enough. I became selfish and irresponsible; all that mattered to me was staying drunk. I reached a point where I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I was doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result each time. Through reaching out to others and committing to a new way of life, I escaped that nightmare. If you feel the way I did and are ready for change; I would like to share with you my experience, strength and hope.

Your friend,
Rafael Lopez
